Ron Duke

Bob Hahn

Steve Hubbartt

We continue with the second in our series of 4 person group shows. This month we have four different artists with four very different styles. A testimonial to the talent of each of our four artists and the versatility of Xara X.

If you would like to participate, see the instructions at the bottom of the page.

Ron Duke - Xara Xone Featured ArtistRon Duke - I graduated from Pasadena High School (Pasadena, California) in 1969. I had taken a few art classes, but never had any real talent. I've always liked art, so I guess you could say I'm an artist wannabe. I was retired by the Campbell Soup Company in 2000, which has given me a lot of free time. I also have a debilitating illness which confines me to home most of the time. Hence, I really got excited when I discovered Xara X. It lets someone like me with very limited skills to create some art work that I can feel good about. I have two adult sons and one daughter, and one grandson. Xara X is a great program!

Bob Hahn - Xara Xone Featured ArtistBob Hahn - The portrait of Andrea is of my cousin who lives in Germany. The one with the cat was just a funny idea. The old frog is an old drawing (1994), just redone in Xara. The sharks were done to just so they weren't all cute funny pictures.

I'm 33 years old and live in Ontario, Canada. I've always liked to draw. As a kid first by learning to draw my favorite characters, like Bugs Bunny, Fred Flinstone and Garfield to name a few. Could draw each by memory.

Later started to draw my own characters and funny pictures. I've been using Xara since 1996. I have ideas of becoming a cartoonist, with my own comic strip. Tried once about a year and a half ago with United Media. Got a positive rejection letter, a no, but "we see potential" letter. I'll try again soon. See what happens. Enjoy the drawings!

Steve Hubbartt - Xara Xone Featured ArtistSteve Hubbartt - Originally from San Jose California, I now live in the UK and work in London as an IT Manager. I've enjoyed drawing for as long as I can remember and with the exception of High School art and mechanical drawing, I'm self-taught. I discovered Xara around a year and half ago and use it in my spare time. Although very powerful I only use a small proportion of the tools available, I plan to explore the many more features when I have time. Visit me at www.hubtown.com

Richard McCormick - Xara Xone Featured ArtistRichard McCormick - I've been an artist for as long as I can remember. I think I'm good but I think I have ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). I have a hard time staying focused on one project at a time, so I often have 2 or more going at the same time. I suppose if I were being paid I would stick to one untill I was finished!! We all have bills to pay!! :-)

I was born in Bradenton, Florida in 196. I was copying comic book art by age 12 (The Defenders by Marvel Comics) and by 13 I was drawing on my own and on from there. I have had no formal training but I KNOW I am a good and imaginative artist.  Often been told I should either illustrate children's books or something in the comic book field (which was an unfulfilled dream of mine)

About 7 years ago, as a result of a heart breaking break up I turned to computers for part of my rehabilitation and a new focus. To this day I am an avid geek (built my last computer from scratch) and I think I have a good understanding and consider myself an accomplished artist in many graphics programs including XaraX, Photoshop 7 and CS, CorelDRAW and PhotoPaint, RealDraw-Pro and Serifs Draw 7. I also enjoy doodling around in Satori FilmFX, Dogwaffle, Canvas 9 and PSP 8.
