Sparkly Stuff

Recently Judi A posted a Sparkle Challenge thread in the TalkGraphics Forums asking about creating a sparkly gel pen line.  I had already done quite a few sparkly type experiments in the past, such as star fields and fireworks etc ... and so thought I'd have a go at some gel pen lines using the same kind of methods ...

The main method used to create the sparkly objects in this tutorial is based on an object with a bitmap transparency and transparency profile settings to create small, highly defined speckles. This one object is fairly simple, however there are a number of different settings and techniques for exporting, which create different types of sparkly effects; and that is what I will try to explain here.
