Reduce the leaf shape to around 30 pixels tall. Rotate the leaf 90 degrees counter clockwise. (Click twice to enable rotate skew mode, then drag one of the corner arrow handles and rotate the leaf. Hold down the Ctrl key while rotating to constrain the rotation angle). Select the leaf, then select the Freehand and Brush Tool. Click the Create Brush button on the Infobar. Name the brush Leaves and press OK. Draw a line with the Freehand and Brush Tool which will automatically use the new brush shape.
Select the line with the Freehand and Brush Tool cursor. Click Edit Brush. In the Leaves dialog, select the Spacing tabbed section and increase the spacing until there is some space between the leaf shapes. Move the Random slider to the right a little bit then press the Randomize button several times. In the Scaling tabbed section, move the Random slider to the right about 1/4 of the total distance and press the Randomize button several times. In the Rotate tabbed section, move the Random slider about 1/4 of the way to the right and press the Randomize button several times until you have a line of leaves in different sizes, with different spaces and varying degrees of rotation.
In the Offset tabbed section, select Alternating from the drop down list. Set the distance to 15%. Finally in the Fill Properties tabbed section, set the Saturation slider to 0-10% and the Hue slider to 0-10 Degrees to vary the intensity of the color and to create subtle color variations.
