This image shows some examples of colored glass. Our next step is to create some colored glass shapes of our own. Advanced Users Step: The glass patterns below are simple 2-color fills. If you are familiar with Xara X1 and how it works, you can experiment with multiple layers of colors and transparency to achieve more complex fills. If you do, you will need to convert the square to a bitmap (Create Bitmap Copy...) and apply the bitmap as a fill from the Bitmap Gallery.
Create 4 squares about 150 pixels wide. Select the first square with the Fill Tool. From the drop down list of Fill Types on the Infobar, select Fractal Plasma . Click on the inside control point (the square where the two arrows come together) and click on the red color on the screen palette. Click on either outside control point and select a pale pink color on the color palette. Repeat this process for the other 3 squares using Fractal Plasma or Fractal Cloud fills as noted above and the angle of the fill path arrows. Experiment with the Profile settings (Click the Profile arrow icon on the Infobar to open the Profile dialog and select from the drop down list) to see how the settings effect the fill).
We will use Copy and Paste Attributes to copy the fills to the glass shapes. Select the blue fill and copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl c). Now select one of the pieces that has a blue fill (see above) and paste attributes (Ctrl Shift a or Edit > Paste Attributes). Repeat paste attributes to apply the blue fill to the other blue glass shapes. Copy the other fills and paste them to the appropriate pieces. For the orange rectangular shapes on the outside modify the fill path arrows so the fill is very wide but not very tall. Group all the shapes (Ctrl g or Arrange > Group).
