Here is the final image with all the slices reassembled and displayed in the table that Xara created. For those of you who are skeptical and are saying it looks too perfect, he just posted the un-sliced image, let your cursor rest over the various elements of the image and you can see the Alt text displayed.

Next month we'll continue this tutorial substituting animations for the six blue buttons and orange panel and then the reason for all this painstaking precision slicing will, I am hopeful, make sense.

For those of you who cannot wait, a word of explanation. The control panel is a fairly large image. By creating a series of animations for the small circles and rounded rectangle, we will wind up with a much smaller file size without having to sacrifice the overall image quality.
