Clone the row of 6 circles (Ctrl k). One-by-one change the diameter of the cloned circles to 20 pixels (shown in blue). Make four duplicate 20 pixel circles and place them in the corners as shown.

Select the crescent shape, then open the Fill Gallery. From the Non-repeating Color Fills folder select the Sky fill and press Fill.

Select the shape with the Fill Tool which makes visible the control arrow/handles and resize the top center control handle to compress the image as shown.

NEW USERS: If you open the Fill Gallery and the gallery is empty, here is what you need to do. Make sure your Xara X CD is in your CD drive. Open the Fill Gallery and press Disc Fills... Xara will attempt to locate your CD drive. If it cannot, browse to the CD drive. Double click the Fills folder. Press Add. Xara will ask if you want Xara to create an Index. Say yes. Xara will create folders for all the fills with small thumbnail images of each fill. The actual fill images remain on the CD, however, and so the CD needs to be in the CD drive for you to access the actual fills.
