Select the hexagon with the QuickShapes Tool. This causes a small cross hair to appear in the exact center of the shape. Drag guidelines from the screen rulers (Ctrl L to display the rulers if they are not visible) through the center of the cross hair (X). Click the red magnet icon on the Infobar to enable Snap To Objects. Select the Shape Editor Tool . Click an anchor point on the top three corners of the hexagon and one where the guidelines intersect, and click the last anchor point on top of the first anchor point to create a closed shape. (The shape will automatically fill black when closed).
Select the top shape with the Fill Tool. Select Linear from the drop down list of Fill Types on the Infobar. Drag each end of the fill path arrow until the fill is vertical with the white end of the fill in the center. Click the control handle (the small square) on the top of the fill path arrow. Click the 80% black fill color on the screen palette. Remember the Depth Image has a range of 256 shades of gray with white coming forward and black going backwards. The top of the cube will appear to be in front and will recede almost all the way to the back.
