Stereogram tutorial - creating the sides of the cube

Click twice on the top to enable rotate/skew mode (the black boxes change to arrows). Drag the center of rotation bulls eye to the intersection of the two guidelines. It is easiest to do this if you set the View Quality to Outline by either moving the View Quality slider on the Infobar to the left or selecting Window > Quality... Outline . Once you have the center of rotation bulls eye centered on the two guidelines, press Ctrl k to clone the shape. Drag the top right curved arrow and rotate the clone shape until it is in position for the bottom right side. Press Ctrl k again and repeat the process to rotate the shape to the left side of the cube. You may need to do some tweaking to align the sides so they fit just right. Return the View Quality to Anti-aliased.

Remember the shading on the cube is not supposed to be realistic. The Stereogram software will interpret this as the center of the cube being in the foreground and the sides will be in the back.

Stereogram tutorial - centering the cube over the rectangle

Select all three sides of the cube and Group them (Ctrl g). Select the rectangle and apply a black fill with no outline. Select the cube and the black rectangle and press Shift Ctrl L (or Arrange > Alignment...) to open the Object Alignment dialog. Click once in the center of the preview window to automatically center the objects vertically and horizontally.

And that completes the Depth Image. Name and save your drawing and take a short break.
