Select the path and the orange and violet-colored bitmap and from the Arrange menu, select Combine Shapes... Slice Shapes. Delete the top portion of the orange bitmap as shown.
Make two Clones (Ctrl k) of the orange mountains. Leave one in place and set the other to the side of the page. We'll need it later. Select the cloned orange mountains with the Transparency Tool (many of Xara's tools can be used to select objects). From the drop down list of Transparency Types on the Infobar at the top of the screen, select Brightness. Flat is the default Transparency Shape and is already selected. This increases the light and dark values of the mountain.
