Select the top horizontal wavy line (1) then select the cube shape. From the Arrange menu, select Combine Shapes > Slice Shapes (or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl 4). Repeat this step with the other 2 lines (one at a time) to slice just the bottom portion of the shape into 3 sections as shown above.
We could use shades of gray to color the ice cube but the colors would look flat. So we will create a palette of richer grays that have a slight violet cast. Create two vertical rectangles and apply the two RGB colors shown above. Mix these colors in the Color Editor (Ctrl e). Space the rectangles apart about the distance shown here. Select the Blend Tool (F7). Click on the left rectangle and hold down the left mouse button and drag across to the right rectangle to create a 5-step blend. (You can release the mouse button as soon as the blend is created). On the Infobar, change the number of Blend Steps from 5 to 9 and press Enter to apply the change. Add numbers under the colors for reference. We will use this palette of colors to create the ice cube. Save your drawing and take a short break. Why do I always tell you to take a short break? Because the computer is such a linear tool, it is easy to work for hours without taking a break. This is bed for your eyes. You need to take a break and use your distance vision frequently or your eyes will lose their elasticity and ability to focus.
