Xara Xtreme Pro Wishing Well Tutorial

Overlap the rows so the top row is on top of the next row down and the next row down is on top of the next row down and so forth.

Select all the shingles and right click on the cross hatched box to the left of the screen palette to set the outline to none.

Select the Bevel Tool (Ctrl F3). Drag any of the red arrow control handles towards the center a very short distance to apply a Flat, Inner Bevel.

Move the Contrast slider to the right to about 80%.

From the drop down list, select Size and change the slider setting to 2pix.

The shingles are too orderly, methinks. So move some of them and rotate and move others until you have something that more resembles the bottom example. Adjust the size and widths as needed to fill in any open areas.

Select all but the bottom row of shingles then select the Shadow Tool (Ctrl F2). Click the Wall Shadow icon on the Infobar.

Change the X and Y offset distances and shown above.

Make a duplicate (Ctrl d) of the entire roof and move it to the side.

Select the duplicate shingles. Set the bevels and shadows to none.

Arrange > Combine Shapes > Add Shapes (Ctrl 1). With the combined shape still selected, switch to the Shape Editor Tool (F4) and remove any internal control points.

Open the Fill Gallery (Shift F11). From the Horticultural Fills folder, select Moss 2 and press Fill. Adjust the fill path arrows as shown.

Select the Transparency Tool (F6). From the drop down list of Transparency Shapes, select Fractal Clouds, and from the Transparency Type drop down list, select Stained Glass . Edit the transparency fill path handles as shown.

Click the Profile arrow on the Infobar. In the Profile dialog adjust the slider settings as shown above.

From the Arrange menu, select Create Bitmap Copy...

Use the True Color + Alpha default setting but change the resolution in the Bitmap Size tabbed section to 300dpi. You can delete the non-bitmap roof if you wish. We will use the bitmap version from no on.
