Position the next group of shapes along the bottom as shown. The 2 ellipses shown in red outline are the next shapes we will edit. (There is a 3rd ellipse that is hidden under the other shapes. Switch to Outline view (Window > Quality > Outline to locate this shape and bring the hidden ellipse to the front).
Copy the top of the 2 same sized ellipses to the clipboard. Combine Shapes > Add Shapes for the 2 same sized ellipses and delete the middle control points to make the sides square. Paste the ellipse in place. Bring the smaller ellipse to the front. Draw a new closed shape as shown above in red outline. Select the new shape and the 2 ellipses and Combine Shapes > Add Shapes (Ctrl 1). Group these shapes and send them to the back for the base of the lantern.
Create 2 groups of rectangles to the sizes shown above. Group each pair of rectangles. Position these rectangle groups as shown so we can see the rounded top of the candle. Select the top of the lantern group of shapes and bring it to the front.
