Select the four-sided shape with the Selector Tool (the arrow pointer tool) then switch to the Shape Editor Tool. Drag the sides of the shape outward to make a cup shape as shown above. If you are new to Xara this may take a little practice. But you can always undo and start again (Edit > Undo). The curve of the sides should flow into the ellipses as you can see above. If necessary you can reposition the top and bottom sides of the shape.
Make a duplicate (Ctrl d) of the top two ellipses. With both duplicates selected, Arrange > Join Shapes to create a rim shape shown above.
Clone the inside top ellipse (Ctrl k). Move the clone down as shown in the blue dashed outline. Clone the top inside ellipse again. Select the two cloned ellipses and Arrange > Combine Shapes... Intersect Shapes. This creates the shape shown above in dark gray, which will be the coffee in the cup.
