OK. We have a major change of direction. At actual screen size, you cannot see a lot of the detail that is going to make the silver look like silver. So, we are going to work larger and I am only going to show the end of the handle. Enlarge the handle 225%. (Enter 225% in the Scale Width or Scale Height text entry box and press Enter to apply the change. The black padlock icon on the Infobar should be in the down position (aspect ration locked). Clone the center shape (formerly blue) and apply a 2 color Linear fill. From the Fill Tiling drop down list (the default setting is Simple), select Repeating. TIP: You can apply an interactive Linear fill (or Linear transparency), by simply clicking on an object with the Fill Tool (F5) (or the Transparency Tool (F6 ), then dragging in the direction in which you wish the fill to travel.
Create a rectangle 1008 pixels wide and 56 pixels tall. Apply a Linear fill as shown and align the top to the center shape so that the top of the rectangle lines up with the center of the middle small rectangle. Clone the rectangle, change the height to 20 pixels and align it to the top of the larger rectangle. Change the fill to Flat, and change the fill color to 12.
Select the smaller dark colored rectangle with the Transparency Tool (F6). Click and drag straight down to create an interactive Linear transparency. The fill path arrow should extend a little beyond the bottom of the smaller, darker rectangle. TIP: Hold down the Ctrl key to constrain the direction of theh fill path to vertical. Select the 2 rectangles and the center shape (former blue shape) and Arrange > Apply ClipView, which masks the 2 rectangles inside the center shape.
