Select all the blue rectangles and move them up 6 pixels. Move all the pink rectangles up 12 pixels.

Drag a new guideline from the screen ruler and snap it to the top of the pink rectangles.

Select all the blue rectangles and the large rounded shape (remember, hold down the Shift key and click to select multiple objects).

From the Arrange menu, select Combine Shapes > Add Shapes or press Ctrl 1 the keyboard shortcut. The combined shapes take on the fill color of whatever shape was on top, in this case blue.

NOTE: If the Arrange > Combine Shapes options (aside from Add Shapes) are grayed out, you probably do not have 2 or more objects selected.

Select all of the pink rectangles and group them (Arrange > Group or Ctrl g).

Select the group of pink rectangles and the large blue shape and Combine Shapes > Subtract Shapes (Ctrl 2). Your object should now look like the fork shape above right. Does it?

Select the fork shape and then zoom in very close to the top of the first tine by dragging a rectangle around the top of the first tine with the Zoom Tool (the magnifying glass tool).

Switch to the Shape Editor Tool (F4). Move each of the top control points towards the center 4 pixels.

Drag up on the top side to make a curve, then click on each corner control point and drag the Bezier control handle up to the guideline (see above center ). Drag the Bezier handles (the tiny red boxes) so that the line portion of the handle is  parallel with the taper of the rectangle as shown in the center example above.

Repeat these steps for the other 4 tines.
